OVERVIEW OF BOTTOM HOLE PRESSURE MANAGEMENT (BHPM)

Our experience has shown that managing narrow bottom hole pressure margins while drilling HPHT wells offers both a complex and unique risk to the operator with the operation management requiring critical planning and monitoring to reduce any occurrence of catastrophic well control incidents.

As a solution, the application of a Bottom Hole Pressure (BHP) management strategy to monitor the necessary conditions required for safe drilling of HPHT wells is essential. By acquiring real time equivalent static mud weight (ESMW) and equivalent circulating density (ECD) data and comparing them against real time estimated/calculated pore pressure and fracture gradients, our BHPM strategy is to ensure compliance by staying within the operating window.

For operators looking to drill HPHT wells, land wells, jackup wells, deepwater and subsea wells, the BHPM strategy makes up an essential part of their toolkit.
