What is your educational background?

Bachelor of Engineering in Civil & Structural, Nanyang Technological University of Singapore, 2006

Why did you choose Stuart Wright?

Stuart Wright is a dynamic start up that provides me various opportunities to tap on many aspects of the Oil & Gas industry.

Describe a typical working month at Stuart Wright.

Directives, Digestion, Discussion, Delegation, Execution.

What kind of projects have you been working on?

My first client project is about investigating and analysing the failure of a drill pipe. This project allowed me to apply and refine the knowledge I’ve learnt and at the same time spurred a greater interest in me for the industry.

Subsequently, I was seconded to a drilling contractor as a project engineer to oversee the winterization of tropical rigs to operate under temperature of minus 10oC.

In between client projects, I am part of a team to develop an in-house project, which will be an indispensable toolkit for every drilling/production engineer.

What new skills have you learned and how have you learnt them?

I’ve learnt to adapt to various types of working environment and also to respect every team member in a multi-ethnic workforce. Meeting expectation is the minimum requirement but exceeding expectation is what every engineer in Stuart Wright is trained to achieve.

What is your educational background?

Nanyang Technological University, Bachelor of Civil Engineering, Class of 2007.

Why did you choose Stuart Wright?

Stuart Wright is one of the few Well Engineering consultants in South East Asia which provides on-the-job training (in-house and offshore) and opportunities to travel overseas for client projects. The idea of getting training offshore really attracts me.

Describe a typical working month at Stuart Wright.

Working in Stuart Wright frequently keeps you driven and on the go. There have been instances when you are required to travel overseas the next day for a client project.

When in the office, you are constantly challenged mentally in your technical capabilities because the projects handled usually require a lot of “out of the box”’ thought processes.

Stuart Wright encourages working in a team, therefore, the ability of being able to relate to people from different background and continents in your team is a crucial factor to your success in growing with the company.

What kind of projects have you been working on?

Currently, I am working on a 28 day rotation between Singapore and Azerbaijan. Prior to working in Azerbaijan, I was working in the office on well design reviews, historical performance reviews, and failure incident investigations. I also had an opportunity to take on a night drilling supervisor role on a jack-up rig in Kelantan.

What new skills have you learned and how have you learned them?

I have acquired various skills within my 2.5 years working in Stuart Wright. The most important skill that I have learnt is people management. This is an invaluable skill which is going to help me in managing diversity in the age of globalization.
