This course is designed for Trainee - Intermediate Well Engineers, Petroleum Engineers and Production Engineers.

 

Aims

 

At the end of the course, participants will have knowledge of the following:

 

  • Understand the main components within a completion, their respective functions and material selection criteria.
  • Overview of completions including definitions and review of completion examples)
  • Material Selection Criteria (steel & elastomers)
  • Pressure Control Equipment (Wellhead, Wireline BOP's, Lubricator, Stuffing Box)
  • Tubing Selection and Design
  • Production Packers - design and function (including setting and retrieval methods) Flow Control accessories (landing nipple, mule shoe, flow coupling, sliding sleeve, blast joint etc)
  • Artificial Lift (ESP's and Gas Lift)
  • Perforating (Bullet Gun, abrasive, TCP)
  • Sand Control
  • Smart Completions (Internal Control Valves, PDHG)

This 5-day course provides a comprehensive overview of the completion design process. Introducing the main concepts and components - including their design features and functions - the course combines theory with numerous examples and worked exercises to give a solid understanding of completions systems. The course can also be combined with out Tubing Stress Analysis Module, taking attendees from the basics through to advanced design considerations in two easy steps.
