Aims

At the end of the course attendees should be able to:

 

  • understand fundamentals of Hydrostatic Pressure
  • understand the hydraulic principles used in bit design
  • know how to calculate torque and drag
  • be familiar with the various rheological models
  • be familiar with laminar flow in pipes and annuli
  • be familiar with turbulent flow in pipes and annuli
  • know how to calculate surge and swab pressures
  • understand the importance of particle slip velocity and transport ratio and perform related calculations
