Rig Crew (OIM's, Toolpushers, Drillers, Assistant Drillers, Company Men), Drilling/Well Engineers, Mud Loggers, MWD Engineers, Geologists.

 

 

Aims

 

  • Understand the main definitions applicable to HPHT Operations.
  • Familiarise team with typical HPHT Wellbore Behavior.
  • Define HPHT Drilling Guidelines (Well & Rig Specific).
  • Examine Rig Specifications and introduce any equipment upgrades.
  • Set out individual Roles & Responsibilities.
  • Risk Management and Reduction in HPHT Environments. Including:
  • Well Control Procedures.
  • Introduction to Bow-Tie Risk Assessment.
  • Bow-Tie HPHT Risk Exercises.

 

 

Topics

 

This 3 day course will be designed for a specific HPHT Well and the rig that is to drill it. The course covers basic HPHT definitions and problems, typical HPHT Well behavior through to establishing a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's). The course brings the rig crew and management together to establish good communication and relationships, and raises awareness through the use of numerous examples and practical exercises.

 

Additionally, a further day may be added to the course that deals with the engineering aspects of the well design, from casing seat selection to mud system design. This is primarily aimed at Drilling/Well Engineers and members of the subsurface team responsible for the well.
