RP002 Production Systems Analysis

Who should attend?

Petroleum Engineers, Completion Engineers, Production Engineers, Well Planners

Aims

At the end of the course attendees should be able to:

  • understand phase behaviours, reservoir inflow performance, tubing performance, gradient curves and  natural flow
  • understand steady state radial flow for ideal liquids, skin effect, rate-pressure relations for gas wells
  • understand rate pressure relation for saturated oil wells, pseudo-steady state production and transient production
  • be familiar with skin factors and related concepts, near wellbore altered permeability, partial penetration, limited entry and high velocity flow
  • be familiar with perforation penetration, geometry and density, sand control considerations, condensate blockage skin factor and composite skin factor
  • be able to perform simple calculations on pressure losses across the reservoir due to skin
  • understand the various artificial lift design methods
  • be able to relate the artificial lift design concepts to IPR models
  • be familiar with production systems analysis
  • be acquainted with the industry standard production optimisation software (Prosper)
